电磁脉冲作用下,位于射频前端的限幅器能对接收机起基本保护作用。通过试验研究基于多级PIN二极管的限幅器在方波脉冲和超宽带脉冲注入时的电磁脉冲损伤阈值以及损伤效应,发现当入射电磁脉冲幅度超过损伤阈值时,限幅器存在不可逆转的损伤累积效应。此外,利用时域反射技术对限幅模块的内部损伤部位进行了定位,发现相对于前级PIN二极管,后级PIN二极管更易发生损伤,损伤原因判断为前级二极管I层较厚,因此其对陡前沿脉冲的响应时间较慢、尖峰电压泄漏高达上百伏,导致后级I层较薄、耐压等级较低的PIN二极管受到过电压击穿。
